Mega Millions® enhancements go live April 5

Cheyenne, Wyoming

April 1, 2025 – WyoLotto prepares for national Mega Millions changes to launch on April 5, 2025 with a statewide campaign to promote the “Live More” experience of the game.

All states that sell Mega Millions are required to adopt the changes in order to continue to offer the product.

“These changes to Mega Millions, which are national changes required by the Mega Millions Consortium, promise to make the game bigger and better than ever. We are excited for our players to experience bigger jackpots, built-in multipliers and better odds of winning the jackpot,” said Jon Clontz, WyoLotto CEO.

The changes to Mega Millions include:

  • Odds will improve from 1 in 302 million to 1 in 290 million because the Mega Balls will reduce to 24 balls from the original 25
  • Bigger jackpots more frequently due to the increase in the cost per play to $5
  • Larger starting jackpots, $50 million will be the new starting jackpot, it was $20 million
  • A built-in multiplier on every play, automatically improving every non-jackpot win by 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X – up to $10 million for matching the five white balls
  • No breakeven prizes, meaning when players win, their prize will be be equal to or greater than the $5 play

The first drawing with the changes will take place April 8 at 9 p.m.
