Cheyenne, Wyoming – Per the national Mega Millions Consortium announcement on Oct. 7, 2024, the game will launch new enhancements in April 2025. The Mega Millions Consortium stated that these changes will make the game bigger and better than ever. All states that sell the product will be required to adopt the changes in order to continue to offer the product.
The changes to Mega Millions will include:
- Overall odds will improve, from 1 in 302 million to 1 in 290 million
- Bigger jackpots more frequently
- Larger starting jackpots, $50 million will be the new starting jackpot, it is currently at $20 million
- Faster growing jackpots with more billion dollar jackpots
- A built-in multiplier on every play, automatically improving every non-jackpot win by 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X – up to $10 million for matching the five white balls
- No breakeven prizes, meaning when a player wins, they’ll always win more than the cost of the ticket
- Because of these changes, the cost of the ticket will increase to $5
- The Just the Jackpot feature will no longer exist
