Cowboy Draw jackpot winner to get a new truck

Cheyenne, Wyoming
April 27, 2020 – WyoLotto announced today the 25th Cowboy Draw jackpot winner was Terry Craig of Douglas, Wyo. “We were honored to have Terry to pick up his jackpot, it was a very special day, even though we had to celebrate differently than we have in the past,” said Jon Clontz, WyoLotto CEO.

WyoLotto headquarters is currently closed to the public per COVID-19 precautions. Craig and his wife, Donna, were able to pick up their winnings during a special appointment last week. Craig won $870,475 with his jackpot hit.

Craig said he purchased his winning ticket on April 13 after almost forgetting to buy his ticket earlier that day. “I fired up my old truck, and after quite a bit of work to get it running, I ran errands. And as I pulled back up to the house, I realized I forgot to buy my Cowboy Draw ticket!” Craig said.

So, he immediately turned the pick up around and went to the Maverik in Douglas to pick up a quick pick ticket for that day’s drawing.

Later that evening, Craig was watching the news when his wife saw on Facebook that someone purchased the winning Cowboy Draw ticket at the Maverik there in Douglas. “I looked at my wife, and I said that I bought a Cowboy Draw ticket today at Maverik!”

So he grabbed his ticket, and as he checked his numbers he started jumping up and down and celebrating. “I have been dreaming about winning the lottery since I was in high school,” he added.

Donna said she has told him since they were married that if he ever won the lottery, that he could get a new truck. Craig said that he is on the hunt now for the perfect new pick up.

Craig said he isn’t sure what else they will do with their winnings just yet. “It is just comforting to have a bunch of money in the bank,” Craig added.
Jim Willox, a member of the WyoLotto Board of Directors, is also a Douglas resident. “As a life-long resident of Douglas, I was happy to have the 25th Cowboy Draw jackpot winner be sold here. We love to see that even still today, we are changing lives. I know Terry, and he is a great member of our community, and I couldn’t be happier for him,” Willox said.

Craig and his wife raised two children in Douglas and have lived there for 40 years. Craig retired from the Wyoming Department of Transportation after 35 years as an engineer. Donna is also retired, and was an elementary teacher in Douglas.

“This is just so awesome to have Terry be one of our winners. I had met him when I served on the Transportation Commission, and Terry was known as a very solid engineer, a pleasure to work with, and a good friend to all. What a great day for him and for WyoLotto,” said Sandra Chitwood, Chairman of the WyoLotto Board of Directors.

Craig shared his story to give inspiration and excitement to Wyoming, and added, “Remember, you can’t win if you don’t play.
