Cheyenne resident claims $50,000 Powerball win

Cheyenne, Wyoming
WyoLottoTM celebrated its most recent $50,000 Powerball lottery winner on March 27. The lucky party, a local Cheyenne resident, purchased her ticket at the Dell Range King Soopers in Cheyenne.

Although the winner has chosen to remain anonymous, she shared that she hasn’t played the lottery in over a year, but was randomly inspired to grab a Powerball ticket.

Normally, Mega Millions is her game of choice. However, she said for some unknown reason she bought a Powerball ticket instead. The next morning, she checked the numbers in the newspaper and said she couldn’t believe what she read. She says she immediately phoned a friend to double-check the numbers.

On Monday, the winner secured her Powerball winnings at WyoLotto headquarters in downtown Cheyenne and was delighted to share her excitement with the staff there. It was here that she discovered if she had purchased the PowerPlay for an additional dollar, she would have won $200,000.

Regardless, she said she was ecstatic about her winnings: “I just didn’t figure I could be that lucky!” she added. The winner says she plans to take a trip to see family, then save the rest of her winnings for retirement.

In addition to Powerball, WyoLotto offers three additional draw games including Wyoming-only Cowboy Draw, Lucky for Life and Mega Millions. Since the inception of WyoLotto in 2014, the state has celebrated 2,055,225 winners across all four games, and players have brought home $30,403,946 in total winnings.
