WyoLotto Players Get Their Wish with a $50,000 Powerball Ticket

Wesley and Gail Heikkinen thought birthdays were lucky numbers. Now, these Green River, Wyo. residents are celebrating because four of the numbers they chose based on their birthdays won $50,000 on the Powerball ticket they purchased at the Loaf n’ Jug at 515 E. Flaming Gorge Way, Green River.

Wesley and Gail had one of three $50,000 winning tickets in the Cowboy State from the Jan. 13 drawing, when the jackpot soared to a record-shattering $1.6 billion. The Heikkinens plan on using the money to visit friends and family, and would like to explore the Canadian Rockies by train. The holders of the other two tickets chose to remain anonymous.

“When the new Powerball launched in October, we believed the game would deliver bigger prizes and create more winners, and it’s exciting to see those results right here in Wyoming. We’re happy the state is embracing this great game,” said Jon Clontz, CEO of the Wyoming Lottery Corporation.

Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 8:59 p.m. Current Powerball jackpot is an estimated $75 million.

Cowboy Draw is also breaking records, with a jackpot rising to $1.58 million. Drawings are held every Monday and Thursday at 2 p.m.

The Mega Millions jackpot has grown to $48 million, with drawings every Tuesday and Friday at 9 p.m.

With Mega Millions®, Powerball, and Wyoming’s own Cowboy Draw™, WyoLotto offers more chances to hit a jackpot.
